The outstanding research work from the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) were showcased at the Science and Technology Week 2022 and Exhibition of Achievements in Science and Technology Innovation, which was held from 20 to 22 October 2022 at the Venetian Macao. The corresponding research teams were also invited to present their research achievements in the Mainland-Macao Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Roadshow and Matching Seminar.

The research projects of FHS exemplified in the exhibition are “Biobanking and precision oncology of several high-risk tumors in Macao and surrounding areas and cancer precision medicine”, “Stem cell ointment for skin wound healing”,  “Technological development and applications of keratinocytes and heart cells differentiation from human pluripotent stem cells ” and  “Application of novel venom-based peptide(s)”, which are led by Prof. Chuxia DENG, Prof. Ren-He XU, Prof. Guokai CHEN and Prof. Henry Hang Fai KWOK respectively.

The research teams exchanged ideas and explored opportunities for cooperation with industry insiders and other audiences in the exhibition area. In addition, they introduced their accomplishments of their projects in the roadshow. Afterwards, they discussed with the enterprises and institutes from the Greater Bay Area, Shandong Province and Hainan Province one by one for boosting university-industry collaboration and technological transfer at their exhibition booths. During the matchmaking session, seven memorandums of understanding (MOU) have been signed for working out official collaboration.

Now in its 15th year, the Science and Technology Week has become an important platform for connecting enterprises, experts and academia to promote science popularisation and commercial transformation of innovative ideas. It offered multiple themed sectors and covered nearly 200 booths, showcasing notable research achievements.  Scientific forums, matching seminars, roadshows and reports of research projects were featured in the event with an aim to facilitate industry-academia-research cooperation.
