The Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Macau will host an international conference on “New Approaches Fighting Cancer and Aging” on October 9 to 12, 2015 at the University of Macau.
The conference is the first-ever meeting organized by the International Union of Difficult-to-treat Diseases. It aims to promote new concept, new projects, new techniques and new products for the treatment of cancer and aging-related chronic diseases. It brings together medical professionals, scholars and students who are working with chronic diseases, and even patients who are suffering from chronic diseases. Over 40 renowned international experts and medical professionals from USA, Russia, Taiwan, China and Macau are invited to present talks at the conference. Initiative projects for early detection and prevention of cancer will be introduced by The Cancer Prevention Division of US National Cancer Institute; as well as presentations on new techniques and products to fight with chronic diseases.
According to WHO 2013 and 2014 reports:
- Aging-related chronic diseases, such as cancer, hypertension, diabetes, COPD, and arthritis, affect 25% of the world population and consume 75% of the medical expenditure.
- The incidence/mortality rate and treatment costs are continuously rising, while none of the mainstream therapeutics has the desired effectiveness to fight with these chronic diseases.
