Abstract | Prof. TAO obtained his PHD from the University of Hong Kong and did his Postdoc training in the Sidney Kimmel ComprehensiveCancer Center, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Baltimore. He was appointed as Assistant Professor in the Department ofOncology/Johns Hopkins Medicine in 1999, Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiolo /National University ofSingapore in 2001, then Associate Professor (2004)and Full Professor(200)in the Department of Clinical Oncology/The ChineseUniversity of Hong Kong. He leads the Cancer Epigenetics Laboratory in the State Key Laboratory of Translational Oncology, Facultyof Medicine/The Chinese University of Hong KongProf TAO’S group has established the CPG methylome of several common tumors in Hong Kong including nasopharyngealesophageal, lung and digestive carcinomas and some lymphomas; identified multiple novel TSGS(e.g PCDH10, RASAL1, ZNF382,DLEC1, JPH3, ZBTB28, etc)and characterized their molecular functions in cell signaling and tumorigenesis; and also developedmultiple epigenetic biomarkers and epigenetic therapeutics. He has published 163 papers(total citations: >9200 h-index: 59)inepigenetics and cancer biology in international joumals including PNAS, Lancet, CO, Cancer Res, Blood, Gut, Hepatology andTheranostics, and 5 book chapters on epigenetics. He is an external reviewer for multiple scientific journals and an academic Editorfor several journals. He also serves as a grant review panel member for China Natural Science Foundation(NSFC)and a reviewerfor several other agents including AICR, Wellcome Trust, MRC/UK, Dutch Cancer Society, Singapore National Medical ResearchCouncil, and China Ministry of Science and Technology(MOST). He has been a vice-president for the internationalEpigenetics society since 2008. |
