Talk title  The Generation and Function of risiRNA in Caenorhabditis elegans
Speaker Prof. Shouhong GUANG
Professor
University of Science and Technology of China
Date & Time 08 Nov 2019 (Fir)
15:30-16:30
Venue Room G002, N22 Building (University of Macau)
Abstract Ribosome biogenesis drives cell growth and proliferation, but mechanisms that modulate this process remain poorly understood. For a long time, small rRNA sequences have been widely treated as
non-specific degradation products and neglected as garbage sequences. Recently, Prof. GUANG’s team identified a new class of antisense ribosomal siRNAs (risiRNAs) that downregulate pre-rRNA through the nuclear RNAi pathway in C. elegans. In this talk, Prof. GUANG will show the generation, function, and mechanism of this new class of small interfering RNAs.
