The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) of the University of Macau (UM) successfully hosted the ‘FHS Postgraduate Students Cross-Team Networking BBQ’ in Hengqin recently, attracting around 250 postgraduate students and academic staff. The event aimed to promote interdisciplinary exchange, create a relaxed and interactive atmosphere, and strengthen connections and collaboration among faculty and students.

In his welcome address, FHS Dean Chuxia DENG encouraged postgraduate students to maintain their enthusiasm for research and a strong sense of teamwork. He also praised their contributions to the faculty’s research endeavors and highlighted that FHS will soon celebrate a new cohort of PhD and Master’s graduates. The dean noted that the number of postgraduate students has been steadily increasing, reflecting the faculty’s ongoing commitment to nurturing research talent.

A symbolic torch-lighting ceremony was held during the event, representing the passing on of academic spirit and innovation. The ritual underscored professors’ dedication to mentoring future scientists while inspiring postgraduate students to actively learn, innovate, and contribute to advancing the faculty’s research. This shared commitment to excellence aims to propel FHS to new heights in scientific discovery.

The event not only offered a refreshing break from demanding research schedules but also created valuable opportunities for students and academics from different research areas to connect, spark new ideas and strengthen the sense of community within the faculty.
