“2+4” Programme  |  Zhejiang University  |  Bachelor of Medicine in Clinical Medicine

The “2+4” programme is jointly launched by UM and Zhejiang University. Eligible students who are interested in becoming a medical doctor can be recommended to School of Medicine of Zhejiang University after the completion of first two years of studies in Bachelor of Sciences in Biomedical Sciences in Department of Biomedical Sciences for the admission to its medical programme. Graduates of the programme receive Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from UM and Bachelor of Medicine in Clinical Medicine from Zhejiang University. It is important to note that the relevant professional requirement to be a medical doctor in Macao is governed by Regulamento Administrativo n.º 23/2021.

“3+2” Programme  |  Queen’s University Belfast  |  Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Nutrition

The “3+2” programme is jointly launched by UM and Queen’s University Belfast. After completing three years of study in the Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences programme in FHS, eligible students who enroll in this joint programme continue their subsequent two years of study at Queen’s University Belfast for the Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Nutrition programme. Upon the successful completion of this programme, graduates receive Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from UM and Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Nutrition from Queen’s University Belfast. The completion of this joint programme does not fulfill the professional qualification for a dietician in Macao, and the requirement for this profession is governed by Regulamento Administrativo n.º 23/2021.

Curriculum

“2+3” Programme | Sichuan University | Bachelor of Natural Science in Clinical Pharmacy

The “2+3” programme is jointly launched by UM and Sichuan University (SCU). Student is required to complete two years in the BSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology in UM, followed by three years in Bachelor of Natural Science in Clinical Pharmacy at the West China School of Pharmacy, SCU. Student who completes this programme can receive the BSc degree from UM and the Bachelor of Natural Science degree from SCU.

It is important to note that the relevant professional requirement to be a pharmacist in Macao are governed by: Lei n.º 18/2020 and Regulamento Administrativo n.º 35/2021, and Regulamento Administrativo n.º 35/2021.

International Competition

The International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Competition is an international competition made up of predominantly undergraduate students interested in the field of synthetic biology. It provides an opportunity for undergraduate students to apply their biomedical knowledge into application developments, build up their research abilities and broaden their horizons. FHS has joined the iGEM competition since 2019, and the teams have consecutively received gold and silver medals in the past competitions.

Exchange Programme

FHS students are strongly encouraged to participate in the exchange programmes to broaden their learning experience. The Faculty continues to establish student exchange partnerships with universities worldwide, to provide students an exchange platform to widen their international and Greater China Region perspectives as well as increase their cultural awareness. Moreover, FHS students can also participate in the exchange programmes operated by Global Affairs Office and Student Affairs Office.

Internship Opportunity

FHS commits to establishing cooperative relationships with entities in and outside Macao, with an aim of enhancing students’ competitiveness through various learning platforms. So far, FHS has established internship programmes in collaboration with various companies across multiple industries for FHS students, to provide a platform to widen their local and Greater Bay Area perspectives as well as increase their practicum experience in the field of medical industry.

IAESTE Internship Exchange Programme

The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) is an independent non-governmental organization, with 83 members and co-operating Institutions in operational relations with UNESCO.  IAESTE China/Macao SAR is administered by the Global Affairs Office.
