A delegation of 15 junior secondary students and 5 secondary teachers from Hong Kong Gifted Education Teachers’ Association (HKGETA) visited UM on 4 July, and was warmly received by Prof. Terence Chuen Wai POON. The purpose of their visit was to gain insights into different aspects of FHS, immersing themselves in the captivating world of scientific research.
Prof. Poon provided detailed insights into FHS’s prowess, including its development, structure, research directions, academic programmes, graduate prospects, research and academic accomplishments and many other aspects. During the visit, the delegation was given a tour of FHS’s facilities, including Animal Research Core and the Proteomics, Metabolomics and Drug Development Core. Laboratory technicians of FHS expounded the facilities and services provided by these Cores. The delegation delved into the world of scientific research and witness first-hand the state-of-the-art facilities and services available. Many students showed great enthusiasm and interest in the laboratory equipment and operations. The delegation also visited the UM Library. Under the escort of Mr. Billy LEUNG, Assistant University Librarian, the delegation knew about the collections, resources and the services of the Library.
The visit to UM offered the HKGETA students and teachers a valuable opportunity to soak up the atmosphere of scientific research and explore UM and FHS from first-hand sources.
