The National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) has awarded funding to 25 projects at the University of Macau (UM) for 2025. The funded projects fall under categories including the Key Program, the General Program, the Young Scientists Fund (Categories A, B, and C). UM has not only achieved a record number of funded projects, but has also made significant progress in terms of talent development and key projects, demonstrating its growing integration into the national innovation system.

The 25 projects at UM have been awarded funding from various programmes: 1 from the Young Scientists Fund (Category A) (formerly known as the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars), 2 from the Young Scientists Fund (Category B) (formerly known as the Excellent Young Scientists Fund), 1 from the Key Program, 8 from the General Program, and 13 from the Young Scientists Fund (Category C) (formerly known as the Young Scientists Fund). This also marks the first time that UM has received funding from the Young Scientists Fund (Category A). In addition, the university achieved a 30% success rate for applications to the Young Scientists Fund (Category C), and a 23% success rate for applications to the General Program.
