The University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) proudly hosted a vibrant and heart-warming Mid-Autumn Festival Gathering and Teacher’s Day Celebration on 13 September 2024. This festive event, held at the Student Activity Centre E31-Plaza of UM, brought together an impressive turnout of around 400 participants, including students, faculty, researchers, staff and alumni, to celebrate these cherished occasions.

The evening commenced with a warm welcome from Dean Chuxia DENG, setting the tone for a night filled with joy and camaraderie. Dean Deng extended warm salutations and benedictions to all present. He extolled the Mid-Autumn Festival as a jubilant celebration of the bountiful harvest, expressing profound gratitude for the tireless endeavours and invaluable contributions of everyone in cultivating the plentiful fruits of the faculty.

During the event, attendees were treated to a delightful array of refreshments, featuring traditional Mid-Autumn delicacies. One of the main attractions of the evening was the array of engaging activities designed to entertain and bring people together. Game booths featuring lantern riddle guessing and DIY lantern-making were particularly popular. The event also showcased several instagrammable spots, including a giant “moon” prop, which provided an ideal picturesque scenery for attendees to capture memorable moments.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the spectacular hip-hop street dance performance by FHS undergraduate student Sharon LIN and alumnus Chi Cheng MOK. Their dynamic and rhythmically engaging dance captivated the audience. Additionally, a special karaoke singing contest drew enthusiastic participation from FHS amateur singers and bathroom crooners of different ages. The contest showcased a wide array of talents, with participants delivering impressive performances that enthralled the audience. The best singer, FHS undergraduate student Xinyu ZHANG, chosen by all participants through a voting system, received a special prize presented by Associate Dean Renhe XU. Furthermore, the event included a series of lucky draws, with prizes presented by Associate Dean Hanming SHEN, Prof Guokai CHEN and Prof Kathy Qian LUO, adding to the anticipation and excitement, and enhancing the festive atmosphere of the gathering.

The Mid-Autumn Festival Gathering and Teacher’s Day Celebration fostered a strong sense of community and celebration among the FHS members.
