The University of Macau (UM) held the Open Day on 12 January. FHS received around 1,000 visits on that day. Through the event, students and their parents, Macao residents, and residents of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area learned more about FHS by meeting our current students and our academic staff and visiting our facilities.
FHS organized a series of varied and enriched activities in the E12 lobby on that day, including themed talk entitled “Insights of Biomedical Sciences”, iGEM research showcase booth, Kill Harmful Bacteria (game booth), Search for Organs (game booth), Twinkle Twinkle Little Cells (game booth), Decode Gene (game booth) and Observe Biological Samples (game booth), and three sessions of lab tours of the research labs in N22. The activities offered visitors a glimpse of the various programmes and students’ research achievements.
At the themed talk, Prof. Terence Chuen Wai POON introduced the history of FHS, and its academic development, research achievement, curriculum structures of the programmes. In the lab tours of N22, the visitors entered the lab core and animal facility which are not open for visit during the year. They were able to understand how biomedical research are conducted and how biomedical sciences benefit health.
