The University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) has held an admission sharing, a laboratory tour and programme consultations for the outstanding local students under Principals’ Recommended Admission Scheme (PRA) and their family recently, following the Principals’ Recommended Admission Talk offered by Registry.

During the admission sharing, Prof. Xuanjun ZHANG, Assistant Dean (Student Affairs) of FHS, warmly welcomed the students and introduced the features of the academic programmes and the study programmes that are jointly launched with other top universities. He mentioned that FHS partners with other leading universities to provide the joint programmes through which graduates of the programmes will receive Bachelor of Medicine in Clinical Medicine or Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Nutrition from the partner universities in addition to Bachelor of Sciences in Biomedical Sciences conferred by UM.

Prof. Henry, Hang Fai KWOK, Prof. Maggie, Pui-Man HOI and Prof. Chen MING, being the department representatives, provided consultations on the programmes in response to the enquiries from the students and their parents. Led by Prof. Wakam CHANG and Prof. Chon-Kit CHOU, the PRA students visited the core facilities of FHS and the laboratories of Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences (ICMS) to understand the education and research of health sciences at UM. The students were interested in animal research, and amazed at the advanced zebrafish breeding system of the aquatic room, the state-of-the-art equipment of the rodent room. The students also visited the residential colleges to experience the atmosphere of university life. The event combined tour and student-teacher exchanges in an interactive way, allowing participants to meet professors and to explore UM and FHS.

The Principals’ Recommended Admission Scheme aims to recruit outstanding local students who possess excellent academic performance and positive character traits, as well as students with special talents who are actively involved in community service.
